Cozy games for when you just want to relax
Some evenings I don't want a challenge. I want to open a game, potter around for fifteen minutes, and feel a little better. That's what the cozy genre is for.
Tiny Harbor Town is my go-to lately. There's no way to lose, nothing punishing you for stepping away, just a little village that slowly grows nicer the more attention you give it. Shadow of the Vale scratches a similar itch if you want atmosphere over management.
The thing about good cozy games is that they don't confuse 'relaxing' with 'boring.' There's still a gentle sense of progress, still small surprises. The pacing is just kinder.
If you're stressed and reaching for something with explosions, maybe try the opposite first. A calm game before bed does more for me than another round of anything competitive.
